Wheelchair Ramp Lifts

The primary purpose of wheelchair ramp lifts is to enable the transfer or transport of a wheelchair from the ground floor to another level of the house or the building. This is very important to lessen or completely eliminate the effort of assisting people with disabilities. Ramp lifts enable disabled individuals to function independently, specifically in terms of mobility, without any help. Widely used lifts include porch lifts, hybrid lifts, ceiling and overhead lifts, vertical platform lifts and power chair lifts.

Generally, ramps are configured for home use, though they can also be used in a business or commercial environment. They are easy to install and require little maintenance. Like any wheelchair ramp, ramp lifts are slip-resistant. Other features include constant pressure switches, low platform for quick roll-on/roll-off, rolled edges, and safety barriers and railings.

The home use versions usually have maximum load capacity of 500 pounds. Their lift heights are usually between 50 inches and 72 inches. Their sturdy design can lift both electric scooters and wheelchairs. These ramps have a gearbox and chain, which allow quiet and smooth up and down transport. All mechanical parts are enclosed, but they can be easily accessed from the rear or front in case of maintenance.

Most of these lifts use a one half horsepower motor, with 110 volts of AC current. Their control switch has key lock that ensures operation at a low voltage system for safer use. Remember that all wheelchair ramp lifts have a warranty (of at least one year). Handrails are also installed with the lifts. Many of the features depend on the model and brand.
